ABOUT OUR TEAM
Dr. Charles Royal, Interim Pastor- Charles is an ordained Baptist minister and transitional church leader who has served congregations across North Carolina in both associate and senior pastor roles. A native of Salemburg, N. C., Dr. Royal earned two bachelor’s degrees from North Carolina State University and was called into ministry from the mainstream of business. He was ordained in 1999 by First Baptist Church in Wilmington, N. C. Dr. Royal received both the Master of Divinity and the Doctor of Ministry degrees from Campbell University Divinity School. For the past 13 years, he has served in transitional interim ministry, helping churches navigate seasons of change with steady leadership, pastoral care, and spiritual renewal. He and his wife are happily married, and he is the proud granddaddy of four grandchildren. Dr. Royal lives in Buies Creek, N. C.—the home of Campbell University—where he continues to dabble in business and regularly meets with others who are committed to reading through the Bible.
Rev. Brenda Flowers, Associate Pastor- Brenda Flowers currently serves as the Associate Pastor of Elizabethtown Baptist Church. She is also the Director of Bands at East Bladen High School and Elizabethtown Middle School. Brenda earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from East Carolina University and a Master of Divinity degree from Campbell University. After completing her undergraduate degree, she performed for three years as oboist with the 26th Army Band in Brooklyn, New York. Brenda has been a member of our staff since 2018. Prior to coming to EBC she several churches in southeastern North Carolina. Brenda is married to Jeff and enjoys spending time with family, cooking and traveling. Her favorite scripture (one of them) is Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Dr. Jerry Wallace, Pastor Emeritus- An American theologian, ordained minister, and academic administrator who served as the 4th president of Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. A native of Rockingham, North Carolina, Wallace earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Government from East Carolina University. An ordained Baptist minister, Wallace received the Bachelor of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also earned a Master of Science in Sociology and Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration, both from North Carolina State University.
Jane King, Administrative Assistant- Jane King has served as the administrative assistant and receptionist at Elizabethtown Baptist Church since 2005. Jane has the important place of often being the first person people meet when visiting EBC during the week. Jane graduated from Peace College in May 1979 with an Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Science Degree in Accounting. In December 1981, Subsequently, she graduated from UNC-Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Jane is married to Neill “Tojie” King, and they have three adult children: Will, Matthew and Amanda. Jane enjoys reading, meeting new people, traveling (when time allows) and spending time with her family and her two “fur babies”. Jane’s favorite scripture is John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
