Ruth, Naomi, Boaz & Others.jpg

Ruth the daughter-in-law, Naomi the mother-in-law, Boaz the kinsman redeemer & Others.

The book of Ruth takes place during the time of the book of Judges (1200-1020). The is the period of history between the death of Joshua, and Saul being crowned as the first king of Israel.

With only four chapters Ruth tells the story of Ruth, Naomi, Boaz, and others.

Theme: Ruth is the story of how God uses ordinary people in their circumstances (good and bad) to do great things in God’s plan—God uses these people even though they are unaware of what God is doing.

Naomi and her husband Elimelech, along with their two sons, Mahlon and Chilion, leave the famine-stricken city of Bethlehem in Judah and journey to the country of Moab. While living in Moab the 2 sons meet and marry Orpah (Chilion) and Ruth (Mahlon).

In time both Naomi's husband and the two sons die leaving three widows. As this story unfolds  we soon notice that God does not perform any miracles, there are no signs or wonders happening. Instead God providentially works quietly behind the scenes, in the cracks and crevices of life, for their good and His glory. The book teaches us about caring for family, courtship, marriage, the glory of the ordinary life, and most importantly redemption.

To get the most out of this series there are four things you need to know: 1) God loves you and through his Son has purchased your salvation, all you have to do is receive by faith. 2) We are all sinners in need of a Savior. 3) To receive the gift of salvation all you have to do is repent of your sins, confess Jesus as your Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead. 4)Salvation is the beginning of your journey in the wonder and glory of God.
